I don't think there is any question of Brian Lara retiring yet - 37 is not that old for a batsman, he must have a lot to offer cricket for another 3 years or so.

I think when Stewart retired I think at 40, it left such a hole in the England batting, it really has never been filled.

No not the time for Lara to retire yet.
