Think about it, apart from his 223 against the West Indians, what has he done at international level? That innings, 93* later in the series and 83 against South Africa just bolster his average to 31. Take those three innings out, it falls to 16.4.

If he couldn't prove himself in the 15 Tests he had, he didn't have what it took at Test level. But then saying that he hit a double ton... vicious cycle there.
