a northerner, are you?

Falcon could have got a mention - we're a bit sensitive in the south paoli - mind you have they got anyone from Falcon since nkala!? ...a shame when it used to be a steady supplier (whittals, streak, whishart? amoung others) then of course milton and plumtree gave us pommie/m'pariwa and olonga/duffin and had a fair standard of cricket - plumtree did anyway, we supplied a few colts, fawns etc but - even 15 odd years ago people chose studies over cricket, i guess all the more now.

i last went to plumtree about 6 years ago and the cricket gear was embarrassing (i'd like to use a different word). fair enough, plumtree was at the lower end (financially) of a lot of cricketing schools but milton was worse off and if the likes of plumtree had deteriorated (i'm speaking purely in a cricketing sense) to that extent - what hope do non-private schools have?

i was also thinking a bit about our coaching - i think people were getting it at home cos i don't remember once being told how to hold a ball, or what it would do if i held it a certain way - we just arrived at the nets where balls and pads were waiting. 10 of us bowled for 45 mins while 10 batted, then we swapped - 45 mins after that, showered and went about our business...

well, i never aimed higher than the "B" team (as i've said before - they were the team which travelled more for some reason and any chance to get out of school grounds was better than the kudos of "A" team) and i guess it's possible the "A" team were being groomed for better things!
