Movements on the ICC Rankings List

At the conclusion of the test series between South Africa and Pakistan, there has been a couple of significant movements up/down the official rankings.

1. Mohammad Asif has equaled the record for the fewest matches taken by a Pakistan player to break into the top ten of the ICC Player Rankings for test bowlers. He moves to No 8, the highest ranked Pakistani bowler, passing Shoaib along the way.

2. Mohammad Yousuf remains in second place, but Inzi and Younis both drop down. Inzi to 12th, Younis to 10th.

3. Jacques Kallis moves up to 7th, and Ashwell Prince up to 11th. Even Graeme Smith moved up,from 22 to 17.

4. As far as the Test Championship table is concerned, both teams remain where they were before the start of the series, EXCEPT South Africa gained 4 points, which moved them level with Sri Lanka (although Sri Lanka is still marginally ahead on a couple of decimal points); Pakistan LOST 4 points. They are still 3rd behind England, but now only 1 point clear of India.

1 Australia 135
2 England 114
3 Pakistan 108
4 India 107
5 Sri Lanka 102
6 South Africa 102
7 New Zealand 93
8 West Indies 72
9 Zimbabwe 28
10 Bangladesh 2

The next test series will start on May 17, when England take on the West Indies, at Lords.
