1. I have been a cricket fan all my life and would say I have a good understanding of the game. However I have never actually played it. This is mainly due to me being involved in other sports during the summer months that I have little or no involvement in now so am free to take up cricket. However, I am 26 Years old. Is this too old for a complete novice to start? I have an idea that I will be a better batsman than a bowler or fielder but I'm not quite sure what I am basing this on.

2. I think there are quite a few clubs in my area but some of them only have one team and others have 3, 4 or even more. Presumably if I join a club that has a lot of teams, assuming I am not a complete natural, there is more chance of getting a game or is this not how it works?

3. Will the teams have bats, balls, pads etc to get me started or will I have to shell out on these myself?

I think that's it for now but I may think of some more questions in a bit

1. You are never too young to start. Try batting, bowling and fielding, you may surprise yourself.

2. If a team has more teams then they will have more scope for players of differant abilities, but they may also have lots of players! Pop down to all of the teams net sessions and also have a chat with club officials and try to suss the standard out. It could be the clubs with 1 team are smaller or play at a lower standard.

3. The teams will usually have some protective gear for you to borrow but buy your own box .

Take the game up and enjoy yourself, after all thats what its about!
