I had the feeling Hamish Marshall was going to turn out to be NZ's version of Graham Hick (who, conveniently) also played for ND as an overseas player...). Lately Marshall's domestic record has been pretty impressive, especially in county cricket. But apart from a good start to his international career he's been average to mediocre.

Sinclair was headed overseas for the same reasons Marshall is - the pay is better! I doubt he was hoping to get into the Aus or SAf international sides (despite actually being Australian). I have always been interested to see how well a 'top' NZ player would do in Aus with proper pitches to bat on and proper bowlers to deal with.
