Just remember this time the incumbent is from the strongest cricket team in the world, not like Fletcher, Woolmer or Wight a weaker type side or limited international exposure.
Fair enough Greg Chappell was from the same team, but I think Geoff Lawson will take on board a lot more of Allan Borders team building plans rather than Greg Chappell's.
Greg Chappell as a captain had to manage an aging reunified team..which he did in my opinion ..so-so
Allan Border as a captain had to blaze a new frontier with new players..which in my opinion .. he did fantastically well.
I just think Greg Chappell got overawed by the hype of players such as Laxman, Ganguly, Tendulkar and Dravid and in doing so ignoring the need for structural change. A basic rule of thumb with most international teams is 1 player per year. I think Chappell ignored this basic principal tried to please to many Indian cricket districts with players already in the side and paid the ultimate price for "status quo".
I am sure Lawson is awake up to this and their will be structural change in the Pakistan cricket team, much the same as their was structural change to the Australian cricket side after Border took over the captaincy.
not all of his decisions will be popular, and he will stand on toes. But I have no doubt in the longer term 2-3 years or so the general consensus of the Pakistan cricket fans will be in favor of what he does.
