Unfulfilled potential is a sobering article that proves that potential is not enough to predict a successful international career. Temperament is equally important and maturity, I think, can improve temperament. Think carefully, before selecting players in their teens or have not demonstrated a measure of consistency. The trouble with the Young Cricketer of the Year Award is that it's based on one good season. One good season is not enough, in my opinion, to judge players for inclusion in the WAT A side. Look for players with a track record of constant improvement and consistency. I think players with those qualities will stand a good chance of adapting to the class and rigours of Test cricket.
