Aah well. Sad indeed, and a touch moving to see his last innings and then the presentations at the end. The stunned silence at his dismissal in a large crowd was worth watching alone. I think he ended his career like he started it; a carefree youngster, looking to dominate the bowling.

I agree. I don't think there is any doubt that Miandad's Pakistan's best ever batsman; what the likes of Javed and Border achieved in the 80s, is worth more than the inflated averages of many a player from the current era, the Martyns, Flowers, Sangakarras et al.
