Personaly I belive that England are going to get a shock next year when they come up against an Aussie team right at it's peak like never before. Micheal Clarke has added a new dimension to our batting line up. Essentialy we have gained a new Ricky Ponting and every batsmen in the team would be a national celebrity in any other line up. Our 'weak link' is Justin Langer, a man who averages 45 and has three double tons to his name.
Our bowling is better than it has ever been. In Jason gillespie and Glenn McGrath we have arguably the best two paceman in the world backed up by either Kaspa who has averaged 25 this year after 11 test matches starting with Sri-Lanka, then India- the two hardest places in the world to tour- and then New Zealand. Or Brett Lee- one of the fastest bowlers in the world.
The talk about age affecting our players is no more than wishfull thinking. McGrath is as fit and deadly as ever and will certinly be the same at the end of next year. Perhaps the only player in-danger of retierment before the ashes is Lehman although if he goes he will likely be replaced with an equally good batsmen in the form of Katich, Hodge or Hussy.
So
will any team in the world Beat the Aussies in 2005 over a whole series? I doubt it very much.
