Too many games these days can turn on on a 'poor decision' (Lara's 400 is an excellent example) and as the games get tighter and more competitive the need to ensure the correct decision is made becomes even more important.
I'd like to see the bowlers 'front foot' fault linked to a laser that 'beeps' when its over stepped, similar to that used for Tennis line calls.
I'd like to see more LBW decisions and 'nicked catches' being referred to the third umpire, who, with the use of television replays and technology such as 'hawkeye' can be much better informed about making a decision one way or the other. In my mind it is simply not acceptable in this modern age, that Umpires can get away with making poor decisions, when the technology is there to enable the correct ones to be made. Perhaps the third Umpire should be given the power to over-rule the standing Umpire in 'dubious' cases or the Captain of the fielding side or batsman given the power to challenge a decision he feels is wrong by having it referred to the third umpire, with the necessary precautions in place to ensure thar priviledge is not abused.
Scott | Yes,I agree. Test matches aren't 100mph breakneck affairs and it would help the umpire . looking for help is a sign af great sttrenth and the line decisions are a crowd pleaser. I like the beep front foot idea, hadn't thought of that.
