Thanks for raising this issue, OF. The User Guide doesn't mention the details of the bonus points. It says:

Captain & Bonus Players
You must also select 1 captain, as well as 4 players to recieve bonus points. The captain receives 2x points, and the bonus players have a little more complicated scoring system which you can view here. You can only select players from your main team here, and you can't apply a bonus to a player more than once.
