Yes it's interesting that he paraphrased Botham's own retirement speech - in mentioning the breakdown of his body.

Botham said something along the lines of "I hate sitting on the edge of my bed in the morning waiting for my body to start working."

As an ageing Sunday cricketer I know something of what they're talking about...but how much worse must it be when you're in your late thirties and you've just played seven hours a day for five days in a row.

I wouldn't be able to a) put my socks on, b) put my trousers on or c) get down the stairs!

If the body is breaking down, you have to stop.
