| Well, I've played cricket in all sorts of places ...
The back yard, throwing the ball against the garage wall. I became predominantly off-side in my play, because hitting leg-side risked hitting it into next door's garden.
On the road, outside a friend's house. You had to bowl yorkers, because the kerb stone was the wicket!
On a local school football field, complete with dangeous bounce, which made Headingley look like a flat track from Pakistan.
In the garden at the house Lemming and I shared with three others last year. There was a big ridge half way down, and another, more disguised ridge a few feet closer to the batsman. We were pretty well enclosed in the garden, so you could give it a good smack without losing too many balls.
Back yard cricket is the starting place for just about anyone who plays the game. You have to play in the back yard before you can decide if you want to join a club. I'm sure just about every cricketer on this forum has some fond memories of playing cricket in weird places.
