Now that the year is drawing to a close it's time for our WAT Australian selectors to finalize an A team. Please select the most deserving players who have performed well in 2005 and who fit the WAT criteria.
Criteria:
1. Players must be under 30 years of age when the team is selected.
2. They must not have played more than 5 Test matches.
3. The players must have potential to play Test cricket. Some players are only suited to one-day cricket. If you feel a player can develop into a Test cricketer then select him as a candidate.
4. To avoid anomolies the player should have competed in at least 8 first-class matches in the calendar year ( the selectors may adjust this figure in exceptional or unusual circumstances ) The point of this rule is that a player has to be judged on performances in the 2005 season to warrant selection in the WAT team.
If you wish to be a WAT selector please start by nominating your list of contenders. The number in the list can be variable but the final Australia A team should be as balanced as possible. For example, all the bowlers shouldn't be spinners nor should the team contain more than one wicketkeeper.
Once all the selectors have nominated their contenders it's up to them to discuss the best candidates and formulate a final XI.
