Fair and Balanced, If you go to cricinfo, you can search many of the statistics and scores from that era. They have a remarkable database, but you do have to carefully search for specific info, probably because of the sheer size of the data base. Another source, which I doubt you can find in California, is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's (ABC) "Complete Book of Australian Test Cricket Records" (which includes ODI games as well, despite the title),published regularly in Australia. ISBN 0 642 53058 0 by ABC Enterprises Publishing. Bookstores with online ordering facilities may help. Good luck with the search, there are some very interesting names and games from that time. For example, in all Australia's games played between 1971 and 1981, the side only scored more than 250 runs on FIVE occasions! Today, a score of 250 is considered pretty thin.

Bluey - has cricinfo really got the results of the original 17-month Packer rebellion? I had a look yesterday and found some games called World Series, but I think they post-dated Packer and must have been so named as part of a reconciliation. I confess I can't clearly recall what was going on at the time, nor can I remember the exact dates, and it is quite possible that I didn't look hard enough. The Packer World Series games were not treated as ODIs by the "traditional" cricketing authorities and I don't think they have ever been rehabilitated to ODI status. For that reason I was not surprised that I could not find results in cricinfo (which is part of the Wisden family - and how much more traditional can you get than that?). Let me know if I'm wrong, please!

I agree.I did try to search cricinfo but I dont think they have Packer series there. There is one series called World Series in 1978-79 season between ENG,WI & AUS .But I dont think that is packer match because I saw lot of name who were not part of Packer. Anhyone else knows where to get those scorecards on web. Last edited by admin : 04-08-2005 at 07:18 PM. Reason: To remove unnecessary quotes

OF, from what I have been told, the initial Packer series were between an Australian XI, a West Indies XI (which did not include all the Windies Test team) and a Rest of the World XI... as such it would not qualify for official ODI status even under today's rather permissive standards, let alone in the more traditional and proper 70s!
