Lehman named Wisden Australia's Cricketer of the Year

Read full report here

Now, tell me if I'm wrong, but Lehman hasn't exactly been on fire with the bat (or has he been?), yes, he did portray him self as being "selfless" by making that remark with respect to Clarke early on, but surely you need to do more than just that to be called cricketer of the year. I haven't exactly seen the "belated, unlikely and romantic international purple patch" Lehmann has gone through this year or may be this is just a recognition of what he has achieved during his entire career regardless of how he has performed in this particular year, or may be because his career might be drawing to a close. Any clarification would indeed by appreciated. I'd rather give that award to Damein Martyn.

Not sure.. but I believe his batting HAS been excellent when it has really counted.. and his bowling pretty reasonable as well... and that Internationally he has has been delivering in the very toughest of contexts. His 62.5 ave with the bat in Sri Lanka in the toughest Test contest the Aussies have faced in years... backed up by 6 wickets at 16.83 (econ 2.65 SR 38.0).. reads well even asa basic stat.. but I believe the timing and nature of his contributions were such that the stats were actually LESS than flattering.

Would be interested to see the full reasoning though....
