Australia has a unique batting order

According to the statisticians, Australia has a unique batting order. Never before has any international XI fielded three batsmen with 20 centuries to their name.

Changing the pace of the game

http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/C...27NOV2004.html

Quote:
The pace of Australia's run-scoring since Steve Waugh's captaincy has distorted expectations. Making 600 over two days was hurtling under Allan Border, under Ricky Ponting it threatens to send people for pillows.

At times during Australia's massive first innings there were complaints that attrition was beating action. Stubborn bowling was being met by sombre batting. Australian fans must recognise they have been spoiled. Scoring rates are like house prices, and sometimes come down.

Punter Pontings captaincy , has made 400 a day very probable.

Deputy Gilly's captaincy , has made 700 a day a likelyhood , expecially with Junior Clarke.

Australia scoring quickly means their bowlers will have more time to get 20 wickets, and there will most often be a result. On the other hand though it also gives a fairly even chance to the opposition, its a policy that can at times backfire Beny, remember Adelaide last year?
