Been there.. done that: see http://www.world-a-team.com/showthread.php?t=1450

Upshot: near universal agreement that England lag behind Australia on at least 6 counts (namely Tresco, Butcher, GO Jones, Giles, Hoggard and whichever of S Jones / Anderson is put up against Kasprowicz).

For more detail on the batting see http://www.world-a-team.com/showthread.php?t=1470 where the consesus was that "The Australian batting is significantly stronger than the English batting".

For more detail on the bowling see http://www.world-a-team.com/showthread.php?t=1469 where the consensus was that "The Australian attack is [slightly / significantly] stronger than the English attack".

My own feeling is that even if we fielded Bell at 6 and went in with Harmison, Hoggard, Giles and Flintoff as a ropey 4 man attack... we'd STILL be a man shy of the Aussies with the bat... and that even if we fielded a team of XI bowlers.. we couldn't really hide the fact that only Harmison is in the class of the Aussie attack.

Maybe you should try a different comparison: England Test side players vs. Aussie 2nd XI: that might prove more encouraging for you.

That ropey 4 man attack knocked over WI in two sereis containing Lara, chanders and sarwan so it aint that ropey. I'd agree the first aussie 11 will (as thye seem to get stronger every test) will more than likely beat us - but we'll give them a game no doubt.

However judging by the fact brett lee is by far the best aussie seamer coming through we'd **** it against a aussie second 11.

Pommade for the poms

To Zainub, an exchange.and an answer to Beny, and all Poms.

Question 1 was, are you fed up with catches being dropped of your bowling, and bad umpire decsisions.
Question 2 was are you now being used as a strike bowler.

e mail from Freddie

Hi Ernie, in this game I reckon you take the rough with the smooth, sometimes you get lucky with calls and others you don't so it's really just one of those things. I am being used as a strike bowler at the moment due to my previous ankle injury which is now better but I don't want to pressure it too much.

Best Wishes

FREDDIE

So you see Beny Freddie is gearing up to mash the Aussies , 2005 will be the end of a great ere for Australian cricket, and tes you have been good, and in all truth, tears come in my eyes when I think of the thrashing those players who are used to winning are going to get.
And Teatime, I am sure you will agree, that all things have to come to an end, and it wont be long before we get our revenge for the Rugby.

That's all? I'm surprised, usually when we beat India no matter how unnecessary the game is I always have a bit of party, sometimes all by my self by just playing loud music and spoil my self eating too much choclate, when the occasion is bigger the celebration gets bigger too, but it's bloody unpleasant if you've all grouped up especially to watch a game and then your team loses. That's the worst feeling one can have.

Zainubs Freddie e mail

Zainub,

A typical Freddie e mail, have you sen him interviewed after a match,he is so modest as to be wrong really, he can get 100 runs, and take 4 wickets, and still talk himself down.
