Bevan

This guy just moved from NSW to Tasmaina in an attempt to save his carrer. Since then he's played some magnificant innings including a 93 yestarday and a 150 a few weeks ago.

There has been alot said about Bevan being a oneday specialst but taking a look at his averages the man has a high score of 216 and a batting averge of 57 at first class level not to mention almost 17500 runs.

Is he the most un-lucky Aussie batsmen ever?

If you had an Aussie 2nd XI with Katich at 4 and Bevan at 5 that would be pretty much as appealing as Vaughan at 4 and Thorpe at 5: emphasises the strength in depth right now....

I'm still amazed that he can't make his way into the first XI. All it took was a small lean patch.. and he's gone.

To be frank, I was disapointed when not only Bevan, but also Andy Bichel were dropped after last year's VB series. I really was. I didn't personally think they did all that badly. It's also rather surprising that a player with a record like his has the reputation that he does, that of not being a particularly accomplished player of short bowling. It's surprising more than anything. And reminds you once again of the strength and depth of the Australian cricketing system when guys are him are finding them selves no where even close to being in contention for a place in either the one-day or test XI despite being in the sort of form he is.

Hmmmmmmmm..... I don't think Bevan or Katich are no where near in the class of Thorpe and Vaughan at test match level. Bevan is a proven failiure at test match level due to his inability to cope with the short ball and Katich is very good against spin but the jury is still out as to whether he can play pace bowling. If his stints at Durham and Hampshire are anything to go by I would say he can't.

The Mans got an average of 50 in Australian conditions.... Hardly somebody who can't play fast bowling. I dont know of any Aussie bat who can't play fast bowling.

There are number of another players in Australia who just 'disappear'.

Some including Blewitt, Elliot, Simon Cook.. and what on earth happened to Anthony Stuart, who got a hat-trick in his first match.
