Australia V Sl close of play 3rd day

http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/C...02JUL2004.html

http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/C...02JUL2004.html

Australia 201 all out (Gilchrist 80, Lehmann 51; Malinga 4-42) and 207 lead Sri Lanka 97 all out (McGrath 5-37) by 311 runs

Australia's lowest first innings for ten years. Sri Lankans lowest test score ever was when they scored 71 v Pakistan in 1994.

The pitch seems a bowlers paradise.

Australia start as favorites.

Are my eyes shot or does that new Sri Lankan bowler( malinger or something like that ) look very suspect in his bowling action

Nah, he's ok. His action is far more legitimate than Murali's. He is just an old fashioned side arm slinger.

already 40/3....i wonder if they can reach 100 this time around. They need some good bats like DeSilva.

Aussies do it again

As I said yesterday Lankans were beaten convincingly..
Even if they were given 20 wickets and 4 more days they wouldn't have made it..
thats the difference between team oozing with confidence and the other one without it..

I was pretty impressed with Malinga's bowling.
A number of Australia's senior batsmen looked uncomfortable and unable to pick his line with the unusual (in modern cricket) round arm action.
He will be worth keeping a close eye on as he matures at international level.
