I choose Butcher under the proviso that he is selected. He is the only Englishman since Botham to turn a certain Aussie victor into an English victory.

Most of the other tests (along with Leeds 2001) England have won against Australia in the last 10 years (Melbourne 99, Oval 97, Adelaide 94) have been likely Australian victories going into the last day and a half.

If you fear Butcher, you must really be expecting a 5-0 win Seamer.

My main concern from the England team is that Harmison is actually as good as some of our northern posters have led us to believe and he has still sees having to drive for over an hour doesn't mean its an away test. I'm not convinced he's that good. I'm not doubting he's good, but just whether he's really yet or ever will be good enough to be the strikeforce for England to win back the Ashes.

I think that one or two of the batsmen are likely to cause the most problems for the Aussies - someone always stands up. Probably Vaughan (given past performances) or Strauss, but I don't think the English batting will stand up enough to make the individual efforts count.

I will never forget that 170 odd he got against us at the oval. Brilliant. I think he got a ton against us the last time he played us as well. I don't know. Whenever he came out to bat, i got nervous and was always glad to see the back of him. Hope England take Key instead

hehe... I really don't hope they do...

Butcher is a class batsmen altho Pietersen can do a better job so i'll be pleased with either and i think Pietersens got that extra potential so we should choose him...

i voted for Tresco, because you should fear him... Hes gonna set the ball rolling for an England win,,, *(I HOPE!!)

Has to be Freddie. He hasn't played against Australia in tests before so Australia are going to be unfamiliar with him, relatively speaking at least. And that might be something that works to his advantage. Plus he's an all rounder. So that's something that might work in his favor as well. If he fails with the ball he will always have the opportunity to make up for that with the bat, or vice versa.

The England batting lineup are the worry for Australia. Nobody in particular. There are a lot of very good batsmen in this side. They can wrest control if they play well. Australia might have to have a rethink about their bowling if things aren't going well. They may well have to bring an extra bowler in the side.
