I'd say we are absolute shoeins, unless the sub continent chucks a joint bid in.

So, with the heightening amount of teams, I reckon some suburban grounds (Junction Oval, perhaps) might get a game.

Don't world cups get awarded by rotation since the 1996 WC, and as such, the only place where the 2011 WC could be staged is Aus and NZL? All other territories and countries have now staged/been awarded the WC since Aus/NZL's last tournament in 1992.

I'm not sure the NZ stadiums are really up to it, probably for hosting nz matches and a couple of quarter finals.. tops...

But they'd have six years to sort them out. A similar comment could have been applied to the Caribbean, surely, where a refurbishment plan is now under way ahead of the 2007 event?

I agree. Australia could easily host the whole world cup alone. Having said that, NZ should (and will) be involved, and if they upgrade one of thier stadiums, they should host one of the semis. On the recent AUS tour, there was certainly nothing wrong with the wickets, the boundaries were a tad small and should be made bigger in conjunction with stands with greater capacity.

mate, honestly, The stadiums are up to it. Australia will play all their games at home and likewise New Zealand, and yes, Australia might get the India vs. Pakistan fixture, but there is no need for refurbishment. NZ and Australia could host the World Cup tomorrow if thrown at them.

Australia could.. but like I said, at the present NZ stadiums aren't quite up there, unless its for more minor matches.
