| I find it very amusing that these Aussies are getting upset at our media. They are only learning from Aussie media, the most biased media in the business. The Aussie commentators are very biased, and your sports media speaks utter piffle 90% of the time, and jumps at every opportunity to rip England to shreds. I like Athertons closing line in one of his recent articles : Quote:

| Well Atherton forgets to point out that they generaly were 'dobbers and crap feilders'. Sky commentry has gotten better since that first loss to England. They're still talking out of their arses and Hussain's attampts at analaysis are showing us why he made a crap captain, however at least they've put the pom-poms away.

| I'll keep an ear out for something to quote. Can't remember specific incidents.

| First of all Kerry O Keefe is quality, he's absolutely hilarious. Only time I ever got to hear him was Englands last tour of Aus when TMS only got the rights at the last minute and only send Aggers supplemented with a few Aussies. Bring back Kerry I reckon! Why do Aussies seem to love Mark Nicholas? He makes me want to smash my television set with the rubbish he spouts and the over dramatic way he says it. He is in love with himself. I don't care much for Sky's commentary team personally. Botham needs to leave his Union Jack at the door when he comes in and his moral self rightousness really starts to grate after a while. Willis is just happy to pummel any player from any team who is underperforming. He must be the most negative commentator in existance. Nasser is alright but you can see he is still a bit bitter about some things that happened during his career. For instance he always talks about how great the sweep shot is and back when he was captain he was continously criticised for suggesting all the players use it. Thankfully it gets better from there, Gower is grand, Lehmann seems nice enough and Holding is quality. Channel 4 is much better though, give me Richie, Athers, Boycs and Simon Hughes' analysis anyday. |

| Yeah ILA Kerry is still cracking those jokes. We only get to listen to a little bit at the start of and in between the innings. But that little bit is way better than the whole englsih commentary we get. |

| The most fascinating part of Nasser's commentary (or of any recently retired player turned commentator) is the dressing room lingo that comes across in their analysis (for instance I remember hearing during the SA series how Mathew Hoggard's front foot was reffered to as big fat front dog, which I thought was highly very amusing). As far as bias is concerned I have to say...all the Aussies, Englishmen/women and Kiwis here have been terribly, terribly spoiled by the more or less reasonable standards of commentary in your respective countries. Quality is a relative term. Compared to Arun Lal and Sunny G the bias of Nass or even Ian Smith is nothing, absolutely nothing. Be thankful for what you have. At least you get to watch all 6 balls in an over (with not one missing because the previous commercial was a tad too long) ...or that you don't have a jumpy skipy tea cup, chicken, razor or ice cream cone or anything other of the sponsors' products appearing near the scoreline everytime a four or six is hit (followed by its respective lingo playing in the background). At least be happy that you get to watch the cricket with some measure of peace of mind. Last edited by Zainub : 27-06-2005 at 08:18 AM. |
