Yes, don't get me wrong OF. I am certainly not denigrating England. They are playing bloody good cricket - too good for my liking - and we cannot afford to carry deadweight. This situation with Gillespie has been going on for too long now and i finally exploded last night. He finally GOT A WICKET after conceding 105 runs at a run a ball. I know what the idiots in the selection room are now thinking - he's just around the corner, one more test.

Gillespie should be put in at Trent Bridge for his brilliant wicket.

Brilliant reply FG... Too many old people. You mean like 35 year olds Warne and McGrath who have both been the bowlers of the series so far?

4 Overs in the second innings, nobody's even bothering to throw him the ball for a bowl anymore.

Now come on if he is still batting at 5 minutes to the close tonight you will be hailing him as a hero.
And in that case would you drop him?

Probably not; it'd give him the confidence to perform at Nottingham. 3 wickets at over 100? Not convincing at all. It's Tait time. If Dizzy doesn't score the winning runs as you put it there CPCT, his Aussie career is as good as over for mine. He aint doing anything with the ball and he has lost his pace.

Thanks Jason, but Perhaps the injuries have gotten the better of you.

Yes Paoli, there comes a time when careers must be ended. Unlike others such as Dean Jones, Bill Lawry, Ian Healy to name just a few, Gillespies dropping is deserved. I have no faith that the selectors will do the right thing though. Really, he should not even be given a game in the tour matches. Kaspa, Tait and Clarke should be given the chance to fight for his spot. He is selected for his bowling and it is only on that can he earn his spot. They could drop one of the openers and select him as a batsman however

Don't think the total is in any danger, but Aus could easily bat out for a draw it is a very flat wicket. On a side issue, will Clarke be fit to play?
