I have no problems with your opinion Aussie Yank. Allan Border was the man that started our upswing to world dominance ,and it must be said, he did not have the personnel that subsequent captains had to work with. He was a couragous man and led from the front too.But by his own admission, he never had control over the team. Bob Simpson did. Even things like declarations and bowling changes were often decided by Simpson. That is the main reason why i could not rate him as our finest.

I cant believe that some people belive Mark Taylor was a better captain than Steve Waugh. Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor had vertually the same team eg McGrath, Warne, S.Waugh, M.Waugh, Ponting etc. So the better captain can be determand by pure statistics, and Steve Waugh easily beats Mark Taylor.

I think Steve Waugh was the best captain in Australias history. He was the only captain the have the saying "never satisfyed" meaning he alsways wanted more success. Out of all the captains in Australias history Steve Waugh was the most ambitious.

Unlike most other captains (including Mark Taylor and Don Bradman) Steve Waugh wasnt afraid of taking risks to achieve victory, he wasnt afraid to risk a loss for a victory and their are plenty of games he captained and won which if any other captain were in charge would have been a draw.
