Warne to save your batting?

Just hit his 2nd ton of the season.Personal problems not affecting him so far it seems.

Yeah, but he did'nt score them against Harmison, Hoggard, Jones and Giles though unfortunately. I suspect he will, like the Aussie top order, struggle to get past twenty against those four. Good to see he is apparently unaffected by his personal problems. He will need to be at his absolute best to even coming close to dismissing some of the English top order.

Come on he was facing the might of Alan Richardson,Melvyn Betts and Scott Styris, you can't argue with runs against a stiff pace attack like that.

I hav'nt heard of the first two, but i would rate Styris a decent bowler. That is good news. Australia are going to need plenty of runs from the tail i susect.

I dont know that he'll need to 'save our batting'. From the looks of things it's the English who are going to need the saving.

Warne has never been a good batter. I place more faith in Brett Lee's batting abilty than Warnes. Sure Warne got a century, but its county cricket and from my understanding if Mark Taylor went out to a county game (he hasnt played in about 6 years) he would get a century too. You cant base a persons performance based on thier county performance, i mean its not exactly the best national competition in the world.

You are absolutely right; the standard of County Cricket is absolutely appalling. You can tell by the fact that, off the back of his lovely 100, Warne has taken 1 wicket in 22 overs at a cost of 90 runs. Against mighty Middlesex.

I'd suggest your understanding is about 5-10 years out of date....

Victor, before you dismiss my assesment as ****, lets think it through. Trescothic is a left hander, so is Strauss. Left hand batsmen vs leg spin - advantage batsman. If those guys see off the new ball and have there eye in, they will be a very difficult proposition for Warne. You don't need me to tell you how good Tresco in particular is against spin.
Vaughan hammered the hell out odf McGill last tour to Australia - the guy can play spin.
Same with Thorpe - another left hander.. The others i have not seen enough of against quality leg spin to say one way or another.
But you think Warne will knock over the English bats bowling any old rubbish, you have another thing coming. I will reiterate, Warne will have to be at his very best to come close to getting out SOME of the English top order. Do you disagree Victor?

The one matchup that will be interesting is Pietersen v Warne as we don't know if KP can play spin and Warne will have worked out a gameplan against him.
