Not looking good for Brett Lee is it?
He is now being treated in hospital with an infected knee

This could be a huge blow for Australia, especially with McGrath still doubtful for the fourth test and almost certain to miss the third. I don't wish the Aussies ill, of course, but they must now be beginning to feel the frustrations which dogged England's last trip Down Under.

Incidentally, Sean: congratulations! You just "scooped" the BBC by getting the news on our site before they had it on theirs! Take a Pulitzer prize!

I'm not really a fan of Brett Lee, but I hope his injury is nothing serious and he recovers soon.

This can only be good for England
but not so good in terms of entertainment as Lee is clearly one of the key players

It wouldn't be an issue if Gillespie and Kasprowicz were both performing... as I still don't see Lee's form as being a match for what the regulars of the past 2 years have been serving up on a consistent basis. Alas, I have to agree though - with that pair out of form... and McGrath just plain out... Lee in top form is looking critical to this series.

Not a fan of Lee, the only saving grace of his was his batting in the second innings and the 2nd innings spell of good bowling.

It was his bad bowling that helped England get away with a good start in the test in the first place. That is not forgotten and this had Australia on the back foot for the rest of the match. It was only down to the fighting spirit of this team that managed to drag the test back to a contest and not a total whitewash.

If he is injured, Australia will go in with both spinners and hope to bat first. Would rather see that bowling line up bowling at England on the 4/5 or 3/4 day pitch than bowling first and getting hammered. So the toss would be important.

I hope he is ok for the sake of a contest... What would the Aussies through at us as far as seam bowlers go? I cna't see them troubling us that much with Lee and Mcgrath, the two form seam bowlers out!

I must admit this tour is turning into one of those that England had to Australia in the 90's with the poor fielding and injuries. The only difference is that Australia have actually won some games unlike the England touring sides.

With the injuries to Lee and McGrath and with Kasprowicz and Gillespie not firing is their a possibility of Tait playing and using Clarke and Katich as spinners instead of MacGill?

How good are Katich and Clarke with the ball?
