A Winning Draw..>

Yes I would say England was on top for three days, but great last day for Australia, and England for that matter, Ponting and Warne were outstanding, Flintoff today was outstanding.

I say a winning draw, because I believe cricket was the winner.

This series is one of the best I have seen, with fortunes ebbing and flowin for both sides.

A winning draw, was a winner for cricket.

A drama a Edgbaston with England seemingly out of it after that defeat at Lords, England won by 2 wickets.

Today it was thought England would go one up, Ponting had other ideas, despite some great Englad bowling, you hung on for a last wicket draw.

Cricket was the winner.

Ready for Trent Bridge?.

I wonder if this was Englands best chance to win the ashes?
At least for this series, I can't see Gillespie playing any further part in this series (other than carrying thedrinks)
So the Aus bowling will probably be better, and I think even Ponting has worked out now, that if you win the toss on a flat pitch you bat, and if you win the toss on a pitch that looks like it is going to do a bit, then you think about it a bit before you choose to bat anyway.

Wonder if England can keep up the level of intensity that they have managed so far?
Wonder if Pontings match saving knock today can drag the Australians up another level?
Wonder if I have ever seen such a close series?

Your right Ern, it's been a fantastic series so far... I think the Aussies have been playing below par but Ponting's knock does give me some hope... As I've said before, if we drop Gillespie and bring in Tate and Give Haydo's a rest in exchange for Hussy then this series might just be even better.

England have been swinging like a pendulam between fantastic and damed awfull. Flintoff is a superstar (and he knows it too ), can't wait for Trent Bridge.

No I can't Beny, I think the cricket has exceded all expectations, the TMS commentators both Aussie and English, are talking about one of the best series ever.

Up to now, it beats 1981, which a lot of the time the Aussies dominated, but England individual starred at the right time.

One thing though, Bob willis 8 for at Headingly, remains one of the best spells of fast bowling ever.

Flintoff is a superstar, but is modest about it, off field anyway .

A long time of Trent Bridge, 2 thing could happen, Aussie could think they had momentum, or England may work out how to get Warne out, yes can't wait.

At last a longer than 2 day break to re-group, get over injury's, make some key positional changes (an extra right hander or 2 in the batting order), cut the Dizzy Gillespie anchor off the team and attempt to get John Buchanen working at finding the English batsmens weakness like his much more effective counterpart has for the England team.

P.S fella's lets try to keep the nightclubbin to a minimum 4 or 5 nights only not every bleedin one..

Yep - the best series ever (to date) Like two evenly matched heavyweight slugging it out and neither going down for the full count. Regardless of who wins the series, the ashes is now alive and is once again at the forefront of our respective cricket calenders.
