Both!!! McGrath's newly acquired elbow injury may make this particular selection quandary a no-brainer.

I think Tait should be selected and Kaspa saved for the last match at the Oval. Tait is part of Australia's future and he should be given an opportunity to have a go at the England batsmen before the next Ashes encounter in Australia. Warne is bowling well enough to bowl quite a few overs. So, I'd alternate him and McGrath at one end and alternate Lee and Tait at the other end. If the wicket isn't hard enough to get good bounce then bring in Kaspa for the swing option.

Lillee and Thomson are also backing Tait.

Word down here is Tait is confirmed in the 11. Have to see whether McGrath is O.K to see who partners Lee and Tait. I would'nt be surprised if they choose Gillesepie going by the stupidity the selectors have displayed this series.
Mike, Of course Lillie and Thommo would say tait - they are ex-fast bowlers. But ex-captains Border and Taylor have said Kasprowicz would be the smart choice. I know whose judgement i would trust.
Mark my words, the hype and exitement over Tait will have disappeared after his fifth over "Must be nerves / the wicket is not as quick as expected / English openers are looking very solid / wonder if Ponting is thinking of bringing Warne on" will be some of the comments being made.
I truly hope i am proven wrong on this one and he smashes the English top order apart, but a wishful hope i think. I hope Warne is nice and fit, once again he will have to bowl a LOT of over to dig us out of the hole created by stupid selection. Am becoming very disillusioned now and for the first time in my life, am seriously contemplating putting money down on England to take the series.

Wow, an Aussie who really thinks that England might win. And he's not taking the **** this time. Amazing.

ILA if you have been an England supporter as long as I have, you kinda get to know what the word disillusioned means.
Trouble is, I doubt at times, any bet on England not winning, would have been worthless.

Cheer up Seamer, you can still win, in the bad old days, England knew by this time in a series, the could'nt.

On topic, like I said earlier, I hope Aussie play Kaspa, rather that Tait, as I predicted the often wayward Lee with his pace, would come good, and he has bowled OK in this series.

I'm in total agreeance with you there Beny.

It does now come to my attention that Kasprowicz really isn't that great a bowler; he's lucky we haven't played any real quality opposition since he started up again. But, I can't accuse him of not having done his job properly; he's done what he has been asked but in the crunch situation, it's time for the wildcard as beny puts it; the wildcard in Tait.

I saw enough of Kasper in the second innings at Edgbaston to suggest that he shouldn't be there; his first innings was also distinctly ordinary; perhaps overshadowed by the fact Lee went for 6.2 an over and Dizzy did nothing at all.

Besides, Tait doesn't need reverse swing to bowl well. His pace and slingshot action will prove enough of a hassle for the batsmen; Kasper does bugger all unless the pitch is aptly suited to his bowling. In that respect he's a class above Hoggard, Zoysa and James Franklin; bowlers who in my opinion are useless but on the odd occasion have a ripper and get a few wickets. Kasper, whilst a little bit more consistent, is not going to be picked because there is someone ten years his junior who is better.

As the editor for the New York Newspaper in 1790 said in regards to the Manifest Destiny, "The New Order challenged the old and the new order prevailed". The bloke must've had this on his mind.

Don't get this, the conditions at TB are condusive to swing bowling, and Australia pick an out and out quick???
What is more he is an out and out quick who sprays it about

This is really high risk if they are sending in Tait without Mcgrath. I would guess Mcgrath will be fit.
At least Australia will go into this for four bowlers who have got some sort of confidence.
If there is no Mcgrath there will be big smiles tomorrow all across England and it will take a great effort of will from the rest of the Australian team. Two or three players will have to up their performances by 40% ( as compared to the rest of the series).
The tatics with Tait I suspect will be to keep him relatively fresh and keep him for the end of the innings. The tail don't like pace and are not good enough to punish his wayward delivers.

Tait is renowned for his ability to swing the ball at high pace. His stock ball is a pitched up out-swinger.

Kaspa had his shot at Edgebaston and he failed... Time to let the future have a go.

I notice that Langer came out to support Kaspa the other day. Apparently Tait hit him in the groin and then knocked over his stumps at training...
