Really? He's one of the best captains Australia has ever had and a fantastic representative of his country. On top of that he's a fine opening batsmen and a magnificent slips catcher.

Steve Waugh had a far better captaincy record and was a much more consistant batsman. In 18 years for playing for Australia he averaged 51 and Steve Waugh practicly won the 1987 and 1999 world cups single handedly. Also Waugh was also a decent bowler before he got injured often bowling in the last 10 overs in a one day game.

Waugh was not a good ambassador and you also have to remember that he was captain in a time when Australia were a much better team. Taylors batting is far underated.

you cant put a player in the best XI because of his captaincy record or how good they captained or who had a better or worse side to captain, if we were going on that you would choose border as better than both, he had a terrable side and he single handedly one them matches and he made a runs against some of the best quicks of all time.
