Mike Hussey

Thank god for this bloke- He'll become our best batsman (if he isn't already) quite soon.

Match saving and match winning knocks are hit here, there and everywhere by this bloke.

Yes it does seem that way. He certainly wanted it, that's for sure. Having said that, i can remember Blewett and Elliot starting their test careers in the same manner only to fade away. Micheal Clarke is a more recent example.

That said, the thing the most in his favor ( his Bradmanesqe average aside) is that he has no notable weaknesses. Spin, pace, swing - on side off side - front foot, back foot. His technique basically is excellent.

Bat's well under pressure, bats well with the tail. Test and ODI's.

Can't say enough good things about the guy really. Hope he keeps it going - Australia is going to need it and not just tomorrow either.

Huss is a special talent and also has great captaincy skills. I agree, he is very difficult to get out and still scores at a decent rate in both forms of the game. He can also bat anywhere in the order, but from a team point of view he's just the man to have in the middle order in a crisis.

He's scored stacks of runs over here in English county cricket. The guy has taken very well to test cricket. Like Gilchrist did, he's had to wait a very long time to get in the team, and perhaps knows his game much better than some of the younger guys who've had debuts before him. The boy done good.

Hussey will be a Mr. Fixit from here on methinks. Langer or Hayden drop out- Hussey opening, middle order batsman in. Ponting injures himself, Hussey to three, new man to five.

He's 30 years old, and unless Ponting loses in South Africa next year and again comfortably in the Ashes, we won't have a new captain.

If this guy had come into the side when Punter or Pup did, then you would have a player who could be close to 100 Test caps, and several thousand Test runs.

Hussey is a great batsmen and looks comfortable against all types of bowling. As has been mentioned it is a shame that he will most likely only get five or six years in test cricket but he could easily score five or six thousand runs.
