What on earth do the selectors see in Katich?? and for Ponting to endorse him to be an opener in the world Cup this far out staggers me

I think with Katich they see stability, someone who can open the innings but not give his wicket away,(although he has done in games). With Gilly opening they want someone who will build an innings and see off the new ball, however he is not doing a great job of this at the moment.

Jacques is very stable but able to accelerate well later. IMO he is the long term opening option.

As far as I'm concerned Katich has been given a more than ample chance to impress in tests and ODI's and has failed. The sooner the selectors totally move on from Katich and call him as he is a good domestic batsmen but short of international standard and stop including him in the national sides the better.
Please selectors move forward no matter how many times you kick it, its still not going to work.

I totally agree. What will poor old Jacques be thinking?

Katich made 50 in this match against Sri Lanka but it's been so boring.

I like todays Aussie team but I'd be dropping Katich when Ponting comes back. Possibly even Hodge for Jaques. But overall it's a lot better side.

No more Dorey please!

Katich just got out caught behind for 52 and didn't look happy with the decision.

katich took his time as he usually does, but this game suited his style of batting. It seemed that the scoring in the game was never going to be incredibly high and he played his natural game. I would still get rid of him as he has not been playing well.

yeah katich is slowing the aussie game, thats how we became so dominant by being aggresive from the start, the selectors need to think quick before the world cup there is plenty of options

yes i believe that Katich is boring but he has made a lot of runs and held the Australian team together.

at the moment there is no room in the Australian side for a player like Jaques the Australians dont need another aggresive player in the side.

No I think we have just proved with our powder puff bowling attack we now need about 500 + runs in 50 overs to defend. I now suggest the following batting line up

Mark Waugh
Adam Gilchrist
Ricky Ponting
Don Bradman
Victor Trumper
Andrew Symonds
Keith Miller
