I think Australia like having the idea of a left arm bowler in Bracken. Gillespie will be playing county cricket and there is a chance of injury or overload with the heavy schedule and Bracken will have cemented his place by then.

I think Jason Gillespie has gone to be honest. Before last year - when I watched him during the Ashes - he had a bit of 'nip' about him. He would run in and hit land the ball on the seam and really get it to nip around a bit. During the Ashes, with help from his shaggy hair-do, he looked only a shade of the bowler we knew. He seemed to have lost a bit of pace and hence the 'nip' with gave him his lateral movement and most of his 250+ test wickets.

It's a shame to see such a guy - still only 30 - end his career in such a way. A few years ago you would have expected Gillespie to finish with a 100+ more wickets and leave on a high before he was past it. It would be good to see him come back, but personally I very much doubt it will happen. Good luck Dizzy!

Dizzy will be more likely to go on the Caravan Tour than any future cricket tours. Nice guy, top bowler in his prime, but there's no way back for him.

The guy looks like he is playing his best cricket now in domestic competition. There is no doubt that he deserves another chance in both forms of the game. I hope the selectors pull their fingers out and pick him. He is a far better player than Johnson, Clark, Tait, Dorey etc.

Yes but what you may not understand is that Gillespie's just a greenie who happens to know how to bowl very, very well. He even says he knows nothing about pitches.

If it's going right for Dizzy, then good, Australia will win matches, but if it's going wrong, he can't work on fixing it.

Gillespie's test career is over IMO as well. He has lost anything with his bowling that will trouble batsmen and I think he will be ending his career in F/C.

I think they will go for Stuart Clark or Shaun Tait.

I agree, Australia preferred Tait in the Ashes once Gillespie had been dropped, get in the young guns to search for a replacement for McGrath.
