I have long been keen to see some of the older players forcibly retired. But not Langer. Jaques for Martyn however.........

As an Englishman i would love it if Jacques was playing as he would be under pressure not only for his place but to prove he is as good as Langer which is going to be extremely difficult.

I think the Aussies will stick with Langer anyway and he will probably retire after the series.

Given that most Aussie batsmen given their debuts of late, have made big scores within their first few innings... Not sure I agree with your reasoning.

I think they will stick with Langer and if someone from the middle-order doesn't play for some reason then they will slot Jacques in there..maybe? Just a thought.

Given that at least half the time in international cricket Australian batsmen face bowling attacks of lesser strength than at least half the individual Australian domestic teams I consider some of the test averages a bit over inflated and over hyped opposed to some domestic averages.
I think we boxed ourselves into a corner during the last ashes campaign letting the test team become to old and having more players climbing down their personal mountains rather than climbing up them and hence I vote for change and for Phil Jaques.
I think 15 years of Justin Langer and Damien Martyn (Michael Clarke) is enough, quit now and hold your heads up high guy's I know the pays good but please dont wait until us fans are beying for your blood because you let it go to long.
I also notice Phil has lost a lot of weight and improved his muscle tone.
Would someone please grab that rolly polly South Australian opener Mark Cosgrove and give him a Jaques style make over so we can have the same conversation about him next year.
