Managed quite nicely when just McGrath was out in England, had it not been for 40 wickets from Warne a really interesting series could have been ruined.
As it is England have come to Australia with a weakened team and they have not dealt with the weak links (Jones/Giles) ahead of time. Simon Jones is a really serious miss for England, Harmison isn't firing and Freddy is just back from injury. So discounting Giles (who wouldn't) England only have one bowler on form and fully fit. That being the case against a fully fit Australia with some improvements since the last tour England are up against it.

Please do not overestimate the strengths of the current Aussies, beyond Warne and McGrath the bowling is very average. The batting is as ever very strong and may get better once a couple more go the same way as Martyn but the bowling is even shallower than Englands, from a fan of the English County Championship I don't remember a time when we had such a crop of really promising young bowlers on the verge of breaking into the test team. Sadly they will be a year or two too late for this series, because I would have loved to see as I did in the last tour two truely top class teams fighting out a close contest.
