Congratulations To Australia on Winning The Ashes Back.

Good cricket from Australia have won the Ashse back for you.

This Aussie team played so strongly - I doubt any 11 players from England could have done any better.

England need a Ponting - and a Clarke,

I am very impressed how Australia have put the 2005 Ashes loss behind them, and have come back in the best was possible - fighting mixed with no little Skill, and a player in Warne the envy off the world.

I hope Australia make it public they wish to go for 5-0, them we might get some cricket from the last two Test, even though it's pride _and places that the England side will be playing for.

The only excuse for England is that Australia are a far stronger team that England, so I hope England do what Australia have done in two years time - learn from Australia and come out fighting.

Last it did not matter what team England had put out, Australia on this occasion look invincible.

Good luck guys/girls at least for 2 years .

Life is going to be so dreary for the next couple of years. I think I'll disappear into the Amazon jungle for a couple of years till the next Ashes circus comes to town again.

Well done Australia.

Yes we may have gripes about our team selection and possibly about the lack of luck for one of our most important players (Strauss) but the fact is we have been totally outplayed by a hungrier better side and even if we had picked the side most of us wanted we would still be at least 2-0 down and probably 3 anyway.

I hope we can look at how you regrouped after 2005 and do the same for the next series in 2009 when your side will look very different but we will still need to find a way of dismissing the big 3 in your batting (Ponting,Hussey and Clarke). The bowling for both sides may be vastly changed so the intervening years will be fun finding the new stars.

Enjoy it as we want it back.

This hurts, because we were pathetic, but the Aussies were very good and congratulations to them.

The English were not pathetic. They are a very good side. The gap between Australia and the rest of the Test playing nations is huge. They can make any team look pathetic.

only in terms of experience of winning (which cannot be understated). ponting and hussey are immense but other teams have one or two players of class!

The result has left me with a wierd kind of a lazy, apathetic feeling - almost sad in a way. England are a far better team than the result indicates. Had England not lost the plot on the first session of the fifth day at Adelaide, i can't help but feeling that the series would be still up for grabs.
Onlt two things that pleases me about this result.
(1) Duncan Fletcher: his spin doctoring in 2005 and attempting to sow disharmony in the Aussie camp always annoyed me. His chickens are coming home to roost.
(2) Flintoff's self absortion and his arrogance during the 2005 series and the way he projected himself as someone bigger than the team always annoyed me. He has been well and truly cut down to size now and unlike Ponting, he will be too old and broken down to get revenge in 2009.

Two thing that displeased me:
(1)The poor luck Strauss had with umpiring decisions. To see such a key figure cut down like that slightly cheapened the Aussie wins in my mind.
(2) The invective heaped on Giles. A gentleman of the game and one of the 2005 heroes,he was never given a fighting chance due to the great push for Panasar. Maybe Panasar was a better option (doubtful on the Gabba and Adelaide wickets - we will never know though) but to see him destroyed like that after such fine service for his country should leave some of his countryman feeling ashamed.

All in all though, the better team has won, but for the sake of the Ashes i do hope England hit back hard next test.
