| Dear god.......fancy trying to replace Warne and Mcgrath at the same time! Its a sad and yet exciting time for Asutralian cricket. Sad to see 2 of the best bowlers retire and exciting to see who might be asked to replce them. |

| Add Langer and Gilchrist to the list as well as they have hinted that this series would be the right time to go and Australia have a heck of a lot of changes to make.I always thought that this Ashes and World Cup winter would be the time that a lot of players would choose to go but i didn't really expect half the team in one go. Stuart Clark is the obvious replacement for McGrath,i guess MacGill will come back in for Warne for a while and Brad Haddin has been round the squad for ages so will probably get the nod to replace Gilly. As for the batting you just need to find 2 openers to replace Langer and Hayden as i would leave Hussey at 4 in the formidable 3,4 and 5 you already have.Jaques should be one opener who gets picked but i don't know enough about your domestic structure to be able to suggest a partner for him. Still a pretty strong line up i think, though you will obviously miss Warne and McGrath and Ponting's captaincy will get severely tested as he won't be able to just stick the big 2 on every time he gets in a hole. |

| It might happen Man_in_Perth Can't say I'm not sad, I never liked Shane Warne the man one bit, but he's a cricketing legend who made leg spin fashionable and fun to watch, and it will be a little less exciting without him being around. I'm sure a lot will be said and written about his career and retirement in due course, but I'm afraid everything we might say may not be enough. He's just pure legend, in every respect, from his wrong-uns and leggies to his naive excuses and annoying war dances while appealing, he's unique and legendary in every respect. Australia’s opponents every where might be taking a sigh of relief at his announcement for retirement but we can’t help looking up to the man and his remarkable achievements in awe at the same time. |

Eventually I'd be looking to play Hussey and Jacques at the top of the order with Voges coming in after Ponting and Clarke... but the bigger question is who bats at six: the Aussies will surely be keen to settle ona dependable four-man attack so that they can end this silly infatuation with bits-and-pieces nobodies... but in the interim they might at least try Cameron White on the basis that he's at least credible as a top order bat even if he can't really bowl. |
