Aaron Heal

With all the attention being focussed on Dan Cullen and Cullen Bailey (who played ineffectually against the England tourists in the fixture with South Australia, conceding 250 runs between them) I was intrigued to hear in one interview that Aaron Heal was the bowler that most impressed one of the England batsmen (this would have been based on playing against him in the tour game between England and Western Australia).

He's only 23... and I was wondering why he's far less commonly talked about than the other two.

He's talked about less frequently because it's his first season. Heal used to be Western Australia's third spinning option behind Brad Hogg and Beau Casson. At the start of the season, Beau Casson moved to NSW opening up a spot for Aaron Heal. He's performed very well this season, however it is still his first season, no one really knows much about him, or whether he'll keep performing as he has. We need to watch him for another season, really. Also, Cullen Bailey is only 21, and (in my opinion) more talented than Heal, and Bailey's also a leggie! Furthermore, Dan Cullen is talked about a fair bit because the majority of the public are genuinely iinterested with the sheer variety of pies he's been chucking down this season.

Yes Aaron Heal. This actually isn't his first season. He played in 2003/04 ING cup final for WA. He was also once regarded to be ahead of Casson and even Hogg in some respects. He got the job this season because of Casson leaving and Hogg not sercuring a spot (as draexem said). He had taken about 15 wickets after the first 2 Shield matches but now he's has sort of drifted off as Hogg is also getting better this season. I saw him bowl against England at the WACA and even viewing from the highest stand you can tell he has got tallent. He bowls them with not a huge amont of turn but they do turn and he bowls them a bit flatter than any other spinner. He got 2 wickets in that game, I think one of them was Strauss. I'll try and find some of his F-C and grade figures for this season.
