Ben Hilfenhaus

Ben Hilfenhaus has just been announced as Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year: his time will surely come... but with Lee, Clark and Johnson presumably ahead of him in the pecking order... how close is his ascent and whose place is most at risk?

Up until the 4th game of the recent Ashes series it seemed pretty clear that Lee just wasn't ever going to hold a place down through anything other than his batting and experience.... but whilst I still see him as the weak link in the Lee-Clark-Johnson attack... he did finally show some slight promise in the final two Tests.

Can we confidently predict Clark, Johnson and Hilfenhaus as the 9-10-11 of the Aussie side (presumbaly behind Hogg at 8) for this time next year?

You are underestimating Brett Lee.

Lee is safe.
He is a selectors favourite.
The bottom six for the first test in ten months time will be IMO

A.Symonds
A.Gilchrist
B.Lee
M.Johnson
S.Clark
S.MacGill

Symonds will have to keep batting as he did in the last three tests or Shane Watson will replace him.
Gilchrist is safe because he is the best ever keeper/batsman.
If Lee bowls crud(50/50 chance),Tait might get his chance as the teams enforcer.
Johnson will get at least next summer to cement his place in the team.
S.Clark looks quality.
MacGill is quality.

Hilfy will get games in the one-day series but will probably have to wait for a test spot.
He looks like a top bowler for the near future.
