Australia wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist is to miss the start of the World Cup to attend the birth of his third child, reports down under say.
Gilchrist is set to be absent for at least the two warm-up matches and the first group game against Scotland after being granted compassionate leave.

Some planning did not go to plan so to speak, must be bad news for Australia, who opens in Gilchrist's place I wonder?.

He is back in time for the pool games so he will only miss warm-up matches.

What will be interesting is if Haddin will get the nod. If he does, and gets some good runs, he might win himself a berth in the team purely as a batsman. Gilchrist did just that when Healy was wicket-keeper and Healy was axed not long after. Maybe Gilchrist might find himself on the other end of the stick if he's not careful.
