Talking Eddie Maguire got "boned"

Funny how art imitates life and bloody hillarious when life imitates art.
Billy Birmingham (the twelth man's) cheif "boner" (Eddie Maguire) in his hit cricket CD "boned" has just got "boned" as CEO of "channel 9"
What it means for free to air cricket coverage in Australia who know's, but we have to remember SBS the multicultural station took the rights for the last ashes series in England because Channel 9 did not want to telecast it over their prime time (8.30pm) shows. Result SBS had a huge ratings winner.
Channel 7 may pose a lot of problems for Channel 9 when the free to air rights are next negotiated. 7 just had a big win getting the Aussie Rules football rights, they are cashed up and I would think the cricket rights are definitely on their radar screen.

Acker, Channel nine signed a seven year deal with CA last year that takes them through to 2013.

Fair enough too. Just like Channel 7 is the spiritual home of the AFL (never seemed right watching it on nine), Channel 9 is the spiritual home of cricket and, to me, it would not seem right watching cricket on Channel 7.

The big question to me is if nine will do the right thing and get rid of the insipid Mark Nicholis - his three year deal runs out at the end of next season. I would swap him for Damien Flemming in a flash. (best commentator going around IMO)
