The AFL is no1 in Brisbane. They get larger ratings and larger crowd support and is discussed far more often by the average bloke than NRL these days. But Queensland and NSW at large still follows NRL more than AFL i agree

That's interesting. I never knew AFL had taken off that well.

I still remember Nathan Buckley getting asked by a Queensland Jurno, 'so you're the captain right?'.

It depends which part of the country you live in, in Melbourne the top AFL (Football) stars are more well known than cricketers apart from probably Warne, Ponting, McGrath and Gilchrist. Your average cricketer (Domestic) is no where near as well known as your average AFL player. There are a lot of well known sports people in Australia like Shane Warne (cricket), Ricky Ponting (cricker), Adam Gilchrist (cricket), Llayton Hewitt (tennis), Pat Rafter (tennis) Ian Thorpe (swimming), Harry Kewell (soccar), Mark Viduka (soccar), Andrew Gaze (b-ball), Nathan Buckley (AFL), James Hird (AFL), Ben Cousins (AFL), I dont know any rugby players but there are famous ones in New South Wales and Queensland.

Ben Cousins has become a big national celebrity, much like Paris Hilton in the USA.

But Quagmire I take offence you failed to mention my (AFL) Bulldog mate and namesake
Jason ?????????
