Darren Lehmann's final ODI innings

Any Aussies here watch it?
Cricinfo - South Australia v Western Australia at Adelaide, Nov 21, 2007
It was a classic Lehmann-esque innings, full of his typical audacious strokeplay and improvisation. What a way to finish up, hitting the winning runs with a nice uppercut over the wicketkeeper.

South Australia and Aussie domestic cricket will be poorer with the absense of "Boof" now, thats for sure

I didn't watch the whole second innings, but I was grudgingly impressed with the way that Lehmann and Elliot played- and Sean Ervine too, for that matter. On the other hand, I was not impressed by Adam Voges' captaincy at all. Not trying to take wickets when two chasing batsmen are on fire is unjustifiable. As a Warriors fan, I can't wait 'till Marcus North returns- he may or may not be any better, but it's hard to believe that he could be any worse.

Still, farewell Darren Lehmann, I always enjoyed watching you- when you weren't in a red shirt, at any rate.

Didn't big Dazza go out with bang.

He just ran into Rod Marsh in the wrong era.

1977 Marshy would have loved Lehman, kicking back in the dressing room with a packet of smokes and slab of Fosters beer cans.
They would have got on famously.

2007 Marshy wants skinfold tests, dieting, fitness programs and clean living.
Dazza obviously reminded him to much of Marshy 30 years ago.

What a difference 30 years makes to a person.

I saw some of Lehmann's innings and it was a very positive, entertaining innings. However, it wasn't without some luck as he was dropped by Ronchi, the wicketkeeper, on 72. It was a skier and Ronchi had to run a long way and dive to catch it. He and Elliot paced the innings well to reach the target of 306 with three overs to spare.

It was an easy wicket to bat on with 7 batsmen managing a strike-rate in excess of 90.0 and three centuries scored. Although, Lehmann is not quick between the wickets he and Elliot had a good understanding and only ran when the ball was hit into certain areas affording a comfortable single. The wicket was not helpful to the spinners and Lehmann was intent on punishing them.

Luke Ronchi's 69 runs in 58 balls was the third quickest 50 this season in the one-day comp and he looks certain of representing Australia in the future.

The mark of the man. What a way to go out - two glorious tons and two glorious wins for his state. If anyone deserved such a fairytale ending, "Boof" was the man.

He is one of the unluckiest players. He deserved a longer Test career. He was unlucky to be around in an era when the Waugh brothers and Damien Martyn were entrenched in the middle-order for Australia. He would have had a longer Test career with any other country.

He certainly does go out with a bang. His last innings for Yorkshire was a triple century.
