| Arrogant Australians??? We had some reports here in England a day or two ago about former oz players saying the current side were arrogant. I saw a fairly aggresive rebutal from gilchrist on the subject but was not sure which people made the original accusation. I hear in the commentary today it was none other than SK Warne!! Is this true guys? If so what are your feelings? For what its worth I just think oz are the best side and they know it; not sure thats arrogance, just extreme confidence. Also I can not honestly say the side is more or less arrogant than when warne was in the side. Was this a story down there and if so your thoughts please guys. |

| Warne never truly accepted Ponting as captain, Gilchrist as vice captain and Buchannan as coach, and there was always tention between these guys - of that it is no secret. Gilchrist sink the boot into Warne when he was busted for drugs in 2003, sayin something along the lines of he should not play for Australia again. Now Warnie is getting him back by publicly calling for Gilchrist to be replaced by Clarke as VC because "he will not be around much longer. The 2005 debacle can be laid at the feet of Ponting and Warne. Those two guys were not playing against England that series, they were playing against each other. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the dressing rooms that series, and hope that someone eventually writes a warts and all book on what actually went on behind the scenes. There is no doubt that Ponting is glad to see the back of Warne. The distain Warne held for Buchannan is already widely reported and there is no need to say more about that. As to the Aussies being arrogant. That has come from the NZ coach bracewell and Shane Warne. I can't really see how they could be considered arrogant. Arrogance to me, is an individual or group that outwardly displays a confidence that far outweighs their actual ability. S.A's Greame Smith comes to mind as an perfect example. But the Aussie cricketers are as good as they think they are, and there can be no doubt that they train very hard, and go about their business very professionally to ensure they stay at the top. They are certainly not complacent either. You could say that they are big-headed and full of themselves, but i don't think you could call them arrogant.

I dunno if the aussies are arrogant or just so confident it gets mistaken as arrogance. I'm going with the latter for now. |

| Shane Warne versus Adam Gilchrist is or was not the only personality clash, but it is probably the most serious one. Steve Waugh versus Ricky Ponting when Steve got sacked from the one day squad and Ricky got appointed ODI captain started to get ugly expecially from Steves grumpy side. Shane Warne versus Ricky Ponting during the 2005 Ashes loss was bubbling over as the finger pointing and blame game kicked in. Adam Gilchrist versus Ricky Ponting during the Australians series win in India was another low point in high powered ego relations, when after the last test Ponting ponting thanked "his" team for the win when for most of the series he was injured and Gilly had captained all the matches that decided the series. But this is nothing new for the Aussies its just better publicised these day's as we have seen by the 30+ year old running battle that Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee have been having where even recently the odd hand grenade was still being thrown by one at the other..(re Thommo on Mitchell Johnson "he lillee filled his head with a lot of crap and I helped get it out of their") Last edited by acker : 26-12-2007 at 09:38 PM. |

| Yes ol' Bracewell is a character no doubt. The guy comes up with more conspiracy theories than David Icke
