Are the attendances to your home matches dropping due to a run of losses? Same question applies to membership. Has membership dropped off as a result of your team's poor results?

Membership certainly has, at least until the confidence reset itself a couple of weeks ago and ive since got some back. I'm about 50 down on the start of the year. I dont tend to watch the attendances though so I wouldnt know.

Another match is currently underway, its top of the table Oldham CC visiting CECC.

Oldham won the toss and chose to bat. At the end of their innings, they closed on 266 - 5, a run rate of 5.32! The pitch is looking green, and tough to bat on. The weakness of CECC's seam department has shown itself on this track as the spinners failed to ignite a collapse, despite decent bowling from seamer Castle (10 - 0 - 46 - 2). Midworth, 10 - 2 - 45 - 2 and debutant Antoine, 10 - 2 - 47 - 1 performed solidly. However, they were let down by a poor performance from Gaz Leader, 10 - 0 - 71 - 0 who just could not continue to apply the pressure generated by the other bowlers.

Binnion is having a stormer, and James is their star bowler - if we see him off, we could win this! Come on Binnion, stick at it lad!

Here's an interesting quote from the commentary

"23.3 6! Fear to Midworth
smacked the ball into the head of a small child who had to be taken to hospital! "

Hmmm. Risky business watching a battrick match!

We'll have to discipline him for that!....but what about the over it came in?!

End of Over 24: 146-2, runrate=6.08, reqrunrate=4.65 (266-5)
Fear 2-0-21-0

Binnion* 73 (66 balls)
Midworth 34 (50 balls)

Last Wicket: Wright Run Out 1 (FOW: 49/2)

23.6 3Fear to Binnion Who needs boundaries when you can pick up the twos as easily as that.
23.5 .Fear to Binnion Good fullish ball angling away outside off stump, jumps well forward, shoulders arms through to Swailes
23.4 1Fear to Midworth flicked just wide of mid wicket
23.3 6Fear to Midworth smacked the ball into the head of a small child who had to be taken to hospital!
23.2 4Fear to Midworth picked the gap, solid stroke down to a vacant cows corner and the boundary as result 23.1 .Fear to Midworth Shortish ball on off stump, stands tall on the crease to force it down to point in defence

We're certainly well ahead of the run rate thanks to that piece of pinch-hitting. Looks like Fear is coming back strongly though, he's just bowled a maiden!

We need to get Midworth off strike, he's slowing us down whilst Binnion has a blinder...Binnion must have had this in mind...:

26.5 4Reeson to Binnion finely worked off the legs into the gap past mid wicket for the boundary
26.4 1Reeson to Midworth on the front foot, stroked to deep extra cover region, wanted the second run, sent back

Good spot there Colly! Binnion is 90 not out off 79 balls! Midworth isn't doing badly though, playing the straight man to Binnion. If Midworth stays there, he'll have done very well - especially seeing as after bowling his full 10 over compliment, he had to come in at number 4!

Note to self: Might be an idea to drop Midworth down the order...

Binnion reaches his hundred.

I agree, Midworth at 4 having bowled 10 overs is not advisable. Binnion looks to be taking it to Fear, good stuff.
