The team is called Connells Estates Cricket Club (don't ask why!!) who play at the 15,600 capacity Connells Estates Cricket Club (that's an obscene amount of capacity, don't you think)
Currently, CECC are in the grip of a financial crisis. An overdraft of £300k would see them go out of business, and they are currently £50k overdrawn and losing about £10k per week.
Recent results have seen them go up to joint 2nd in the league table (out of 10 teams) only 4 points behind current leaders Oldham Cricket Club. As its 4 points for a win, the upcoming Oldham vs CECC game could see Connells in line for promotion.
Connells are led by the exciting and experienced Richard Binnion, a 29 year old in the mould of Tatenda Taibu who has the ability to both bat and keep up to a decent level and can turn his arm over if necessary. He's currently averaging 77.00 this season, with a strike rate of 79.56.
With the able assistance of young starlet, 17 year old Graeme Adu to open with him, CECC have a strong top order. Unfortunately, the lack of bowling in the side sometimes lets them down, especially if Binnion and Adu have an off day.
Tomorrow, CECC play bottom of the league Scotland Cricket Club, starting at 10.30 am. If you log in, go to the CLUB column on the top toolbar, then click on FIXTURES and then on the match at 10.30 am tomorrow, you will be able to see Cricinfo style commentary on the game.
If YOU are interested in joining the Connells Estates Cricket Club board of directors, then either contact Club Chairman, Andy Mellon or Chief Executive Mike 'Admin' Dengler to gain access to the privaliged and hallowed corridors of the CECC board room!
Oh yes, and by the way - Zainub and Lemming already have teams, so unfortunately, due to stringent access rules on battrick, they cannot join the board of CECC
