News has just reached the WAT Gazetteer that Connells Estates Cricket Club have appointed recently employed Director, Collyisamackem as Director of Transfers. The Chairman of CECC, Andy Mellon said "We welcome Collyisamackem to the family here at Connells with open arms. We feel that he brings fresh ideas and views to the team, and his experience of Wheeler-dealing in Championship Manager should see him help this club scale new heights!" Collyisamackem was unavailable for comment, but was thought to be arranging a scouting trip to Pakistan

Shock at CECC as Binnion Sold!

News has just reached the WAT Gazetteer that Connells Estates Cricket Club have sold star player Richard Binnion to Panchgani Tigers for 700,000 GBP. This gives Director of Transfers, Collyisamackem, a well needed stash of money to invest in new talent. All here at the WAT Gazetteer wait with baited breath to see who is signed up.

Connells CC Sign Cooper

Yesterday Connells CC made their record signing by bagging young batting propsect Rob Cooper, beating off stiff competition for his £188,701 signature. Cooper is 17 years old but is already highly rated in the Battrick leagues. He is due to bat at number three for Connells in his first match today, currently in progress against Chudley Cannons, as Connells hope to arrest their early season poor form.

Connells head coach Andy Mellon said he though it was an "excellent signing for us, representing great value for a very promosing young batsman", or something along those lines.

Connells are actively pursuing top young talent in their bid to improve the squad following the fund-raising sale of star player Richard Binnion last month. A new bowler is a high priority.

Connells Continue Spending Spree, Bagging Two!

Connells CC completed their major facelift following the sale of star player Richard Binnion and the team's subsequent freefall. Major investment has been made with the club spending some £600,000 in recent weeks, and making a series of the club's underachieving players available for transfer. So far Vince Carter, the young bowler who has been squeezed out by the astonishing form of Antoine et al, has been sold for £50,000 and Connells' management team wish him well at his new club.

As for the new players, Eric Beattie is an 18-year old batsman with a very promising future, in the same vein as recent signing Rob Cooper. Set to be a snip at £150,000.

Rajesh Rideegammanagedera, the Sri Lankan, arrives with the longest name and the highest transfer fee at 11 syllables and £355,000 respectively. At 19 he is an outstanding talent and looks set to challenge for an opening spot straight away in a much-strengthened batting lineup.

There is much excitement among the Connells membership at this time, and all attention is focused on Friday's upcoming game against Dave Mohammed XI.

Connells Go Irish!!!

Connells Estates CC today announced their club record signing to a packed press room. 17-year old prodigy Eddie Ireland arrives for a fee of £525,000 and is being touted as a future all-rounder by head coach Andy Mellon and his right hand man Colly I. A. Mackem. Ireland's right-arm fast-medium swing bowling is already outstanding for his age, at respectable/respectable, but his batting does need some work and his stamina a lot of work. Still, the Connells management are very happy with their newest acquisition.

Christopher Spartan-Jenkins, The Times Table.

Andy - prices are silly at the moment but I think this isn't a bad buy at all. I've put him on two batting nets for the moment, with a stamina net to be added when Wright reaches mediocre, then one batting net to be converted to a bowling net when he reaches competent batting. Those three nets should stick with him until he is 21 and make him some player for us - I'd add a fourth but Acton can do with two bowling nets for a while, I think.

Good stuff. Expensive, but he looks a good signing.

My opinion on training - we really should GO FOR IT when he's cost us a cool half million.

Robyn Rees' net session should go to Ireland - BOWLING
Rob Cooper's batting net session should go to Ireland - FIELDING

Ireland is the 17 year old - he will improve much quicker than Rees and Cooper probably won't improve much more at 20 years old. Rees might never make the CECC side with his poor secondaries anyway.
