Please publish your thoughts on your matches on this thread, we would like to see a bit of friendly rivalry between the teams, so feel free to 'publish' your opinions on the opposition! I will publish a league table once I know the results of each week's friendlies. If a game is not arranged, please let me know that your opponent has failed to arrange the friendly, remember, arranging the game up to the HOME TEAM! If the home team fails to give you notice, please let me know and they will FORFEIT that game. If you are the home team, and the away team fails to respond to your friendly request, the away team will FORFEIT the game.

The rules are easy, if you win the match, you gain 3 points. Whoever gains the most points wins the league. If two or more teams finish level on points, the winner will be decided by the number of runs scored, to encourage adventurous cricket!

OK... Paoli and I have set up our first match to take place on the 11th. I know it's early but I'd asked for a freindly anyway and we'll only be playing against each other again next week so it should'nt do too much damage. BTW the first game will be at my ground, we'll just go the opposite way to the fixture if nobody minds.

I had my first game, and first win yesterday so I've got a bit of confidence leading in to the match. However after checking Paoli's results I'm a bit worried about his top order with a 200 run opening stand in their last match and some decent stats to suggest it's not the first time.
In all seriousness this should be a walkover for the "Big_P".

Good start for you Beny, the first shock of the tournament in the first game! Sounds like a nail-biter too!! Congratulations! Do either you or Paoli want to post a summary of the game, so we have an idea of how it went (and also what players to target!!)

Arriving on an uneven pitch at Firebirds CG, the Firebirds won the toss and elected to bat. The top order pair of Captain Okon and Ricon-Hanna took on Paoli's bowlers and stood together in a 236 run stand before Okon fell to Nixon for 87. Not long after Ricon-Hanna was bowled Weir, caught Mould for a brilliant 132 off 142 balls.
Richard Storer put on a quick 30 off 14 before he too was dismised by Nixon LBW. It was then left to Barr and Tierny to get the score we needed and they finished the game not out on 11 and 22 respectively. Firebirds finished a good innings at 3/309.

With a big total to chase Paoli XI needed to get off to a good start and their top order was in good form comming into this match. Unfortunetly however the teams captain- Ross fell early on for a duck, caught in the outfield off Donald who was arguably the stand-out bowler of the game (10-0-43-2). However the other opener; Conelly was in no mood to return to the stands, working hard on his way to 93 of 119 before holeing out to 18 year old quicky Alcock.

Paoli XI's middle order all got starts but unfotunetly failed to make the big score which was needed. Loss of wickets slowed down the batting side's chase and they eventualy fell 5 runs short at 7/304. Barass (50 of 61) and Welsh (55* off 44) were the other stand outs.

Man of the match was the ceturion Hanna. Game two next week at Paoli's ground should be interesting.
