Close match but that loss pretty much finishes the season for us. We know our bowling isn't as good as we need to be but the surprise was our pedestrian run-rate in the middle of the innings. Binnion tired badly after the 1st 10 overs, Midworth was too cautious early in his innings. Fitness of both players has to be questioned. Our opponents appear to have bought some good players recently and are on a bit of a roll.

Binnion's tiring after the 1st 10 overs is due to the fact his stanima is at WOEFUL - which also suggests why he got out run out. What gets him through this is the fact that he has STRONG batting and MEDIOCRE concentration. I have a player with the same stamina setting and have the same problem, although his batting is not as good, he still makes good scores but at a lasy rate.

How did we lose....

How did we lose to 6th placed Lancaster Bombers? Last time we passed their total with 2.3 overs to spare thanks to Carter running through their lower order and bagging a 5-fer in the process. Can we beat the bottom side Phils hotspurs next week to finish on a winning note and claim 3rd place in our league?

Yay! We finally won! We beat the Dave Mohammed XI - although it was a nail biter with CECC only winning by the single wicket thanks to a last wicket partnership of 5 runs between Antoine and Macey. Antoine starred with the ball taking 2-17 while Adu scored 77 and Wright 42. Unfortunately, new boys Rajesh and Cooper were both dismissed first ball!

Still, the season has started. Can the run continue?

The new bats will hit form soon enough, it's encouraging to see the lineup is allowing our star players to shwocase their talents without getting tired. Hooray for winning!

Yay! Another win for the Mighty CECC as they beat crt by a massive 9 wickets thanks to 8.5 - 4 - 11 - 4 from Midworth, 5 - 2 - 6 - 3 from Antoine and an unbeaten 44 from Graeme Adu. Thumping win takes us out of the automatic relegation zone. Great stuff!

Ressies got thumped by Statto but it's no big deal - Wright had a nice hit about as he rested from the captaincy. The big guns Adu, Kent and Midworth return for the next league game as Castle, Fife and Scowcroft lose out. Dave Mohammed XI spanked 319 runs off them so I think our bats should attack.

You know, I though 319-4 would be good enough to beat Ramblers today, but our pathetic bowling performance saw to it that we got beat.

Quote:
And that's the end of the match. Ramblers won by 9 wickets.

Connells Estates CC 319-4 (50 overs)
Ramblers 320-1 (49.2 overs)

A great win against Borobia Leg-ends today! They were all out for 182 thanks to terrific bowling from Midworth (10-3-17-2) Antoine (10-3-28-2) and Macey (9.5-1-35-3). Rajesh scored 63 and Adu, Cooper and Wright also scored well to see CECC overhaul the target with 13.2 overs to spare!

Yeah, fantastic win. Hope you didn't mind me inserting Rajesh to open instead of Donnelly a few days before the match. I just noticed Donnelly was listed as a defensive player and Rajesh an attacking one, so I thought it'd be good to see him against the new ball, and he did rather well!

Interesting to see Midworth developing a useful weapon:

14.6.Midworth to Ardley The doosra. Ardley, on the back foot, defends out to the off side. That ball kept very low.

Furthermore, Cooper is getting back on track with a couple of useful not-outs after a shaky start, Wright's batting and bowling averages are moving in the right direction, Adu averages over 50 so far this year and Skalding is looking better and better.

I made some alterations to the team for the match against Firebirds, given the match is tomorrow, 2 days after the Borobia game. See what you think - I think Beattie needs some batting time after the top four havn't allowed him much of an opportunity of late!
